Privacy Policy

Chapter is a private personal-history organizer. You can keep your personal history and simple Family profiles for a partner or child.
Storage
Chapter stores your personal history and Family profiles on your device. You do not need a Chapter account, and Chapter does not operate a server that stores your personal information.
iCloud Sync
When iCloud is available, Chapter can keep your history and Family profiles up to date across your Apple devices using your private iCloud account. Chapter remains useful offline. Chapter does not operate its own server for your information.
Imports and shared files
CSV files are processed on this device. Shared files are kept as protected copies in Files to Review until you remove them or choose Delete All Chapter Data. They do not become saved history without your review and confirmation and are not part of Chapter's private iCloud history sync. Removing a copy does not delete the original file in another app.
Boarding-pass processing
Apple's built-in barcode and PDF tools read boarding passes on-device. For other documents you choose to share, Chapter can use Apple's on-device text recognition to find clearly labelled possible immigration application or decision facts while you review them. Recognised text stays on this device during review and is not sent to a Chapter-operated document-processing server or AI service. Boarding passes and documents do not prove immigration entry, authenticity or length of stay. Only facts you confirm become records; raw passenger, PNR and security fields are not intentionally persisted or logged.
On-device intelligence
If you enable Ask Chapter, Apple Intelligence on supported iPhones helps answer questions about your recorded personal history. Chapter uses supported recorded history on the device to prepare factual answers; Ask Chapter does not read Family profiles. Chapter does not send Ask Chapter conversations or history to a Chapter-operated AI server or third-party AI provider, and Chapter does not save Ask Chapter conversations. Ask Chapter cannot create, edit or delete your records. It may misunderstand a question, and answers depend on the information you've recorded, so check important details against your records. Ask Chapter does not provide legal or immigration advice, determine eligibility or predict application outcomes. Ask Chapter is optional and in beta.
Face ID Lock
Face ID Lock is optional. Apple checks your identity and tells Chapter whether the check succeeded. Chapter does not receive or store your face data. Face ID Lock controls access to the app; it does not encrypt your records.
Reminders
Chapter uses local notifications for reminders you enable. Reminder text avoids passport numbers, immigration references, addresses and private notes.
Exports
Chapter's exports are created locally. Full Data Export can include your Family profiles. Chapter does not upload exports automatically; you choose whether and where to save or share them.
Purchases
You receive 30 days of full free access. After that, you can continue using Chapter by buying Lifetime Access once for £2.99. There is no subscription and no automatic charge. Apple handles the payment through the App Store, so Chapter does not receive your full payment card details.
Advertising and tracking
Chapter has no advertising or behavioural tracking, and does not use third-party analytics.
Deleting history
Delete All Chapter Data deletes saved history, Family profiles, supporting evidence, Files to Review copies and pending reminders. Deletions can synchronize through private iCloud when available. Original external files are not deleted, and purchase entitlement or free-access state is not reset. General preferences may remain.
